About IoT Crest
IoT Crest is a small editorial site about the Internet of Things. It exists to answer the questions people actually search for when they connect a device, a machine or a building to a network, in plain words and without invented numbers.
Who reads IoT Crest
Four kinds of people, mostly. Someone setting up a smart home who wants to know whether a device will keep working if the vendor's cloud goes away. A small-business owner adding temperature sensors to a cold room and trying to work out what the sensor should talk to. A developer or student picking a board for a first project. And an operations person in a factory, on a farm or in a warehouse who has been asked to "add IoT" and needs to know what that phrase actually contains.
The articles are grouped into five topics: smart home, industrial IoT, IoT security, sensors and hardware, connectivity. Each topic hub explains what it covers and answers a few of the questions that come up in every project.
How the site is funded
IoT Crest earns money by selling sponsored articles and in-article link placements to companies in the IoT space. A sponsored article is labeled "Sponsored" at the top and is written and edited to the same standard as everything else. A paid link inside an existing article is disclosed in that article. Every paid link carries rel="sponsored", as the disclosure page explains. There is no display advertising. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying visitors, and Cloudflare's bot check can set a cookie named cf_clearance. Pages also load Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity through Google Tag Manager, which set cookies of their own; in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland they load only after you accept them. The privacy policy describes all of it.
That funding model is the reason the editorial policy is short and public: readers should be able to see exactly what a sponsor can and cannot buy. If you want to sponsor an article, the advertise page explains what is included. IoT Crest has no inquiry form of its own: the page links to the inquiry form on passieon.com, the studio behind the site, which handles the brief, the invoice and the reply.
Who writes the articles
Articles are written and edited by the IoT Crest editorial team and published under that name rather than an individual byline. The team's rule is simple: state how something works only when that behavior is well established, describe a size in words rather than inventing a figure, and say near the top of each article what it does not cover. When an error is found it is fixed in the article with a dated note.
